5 Steps to a Perfect Charcuterie Board

  1. I’ll start with the fill-ins first. Go for choices that most people can eat. Select low-carb/gluten free alternative. You can even skip the bread and crackers and make your own almond flour crackers, seeds and nuts cracker or even cauliflower crackers. Or do your research and choose an easier solution and make your purchases.
  2. Choosing healthy cold cuts are important: choose uncured low sodium turkey, chicken or beef without nitrates, nitrites. Select at least three different kinds.
  3. Time to consider your cheese selection: Some healthy cheeses to consider-parmesan, which comes in variations, fresh mozzarella, cottage cheese, Swiss, and goat cheese. And of course I have to mention my favorite, Greek feta.
  4. Don’t forget to load up on healthy nuts and seeds! My favorites are walnuts, almonds. Of course, there are pistachios, Brazil, cashews, and pecans, Pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. You can even sprinkle some chia seeds over cottage and ricotta if you choose to serve these. Just some ideas. Don’t forget to set out allergy warning labels.
  5. Fruits are definitely a must. My number one has to be pineapple chunks, grapes, blue berries, strawberries, just to name a few. FYI, fresh is the best. Don’t forget the dips and balancers-pickles, olives and fermented veggies, as an addition.
